Cynthia's Basecamp

Desert Immersion, personally hosted

Cynthia's Basecamp

A private desert compound in the Amargosa Basin
WHAT IT IS

This is not a hotel.

Basecamp is a hosted environment—configured for each group and shaped by the rhythm of the desert itself.

Some come for field work.
Some for film or photo production.
Some for retreats or small gatherings.

Some simply to be in the Amargosa Basin landscape.

No two stays are arranged the same.

HOW IT FEELS

The Amargosa Basin itself is the starting point for everything that happens here.

Days are shaped by light, weather, and movement across the land.
Evenings return to quiet, dark skies, and shared space.

Comfort is present—but never the focus.
The experience remains the desert.

Group Size

Basecamp has hosted stays from one or two people to groups of up to 30 guests. The most comfortable size is usually 12 to 16 people, with larger groups possible by arrangement.

Food & Group Support

Food support can be arranged around the needs of your group, the length of your stay, and the rhythm of your work.

For field camps, this may include breakfast, dinner, field-day support, your own field kitchen setup and support.

For film and photo production, outside catering, craft services, staging space, refrigeration, and meal timing can be coordinated as part of the production plan.

For retreats and gatherings, meals can be simple, seasonal, and unhurried, with options shaped around the tone and schedule of the group.

Depending on the size and needs of the stay, food may be prepared by Cynthia’s, brought in through outside catering, or arranged as a combination of both.

The Spaces

Five private guest suites are arranged across the property, allowing for flexibility in how groups gather or separate.

Spaces can be configured as:

  • Private suites
  • Connected rooms for families or small groups
  • Multi-room layouts with shared or separate bathrooms
  • Expanded configurations for larger groups

Across the property, the design allows for space, privacy, and a sense of ease—never crowding.

A PLACE TO REST

Practical Realities

This is a remote desert environment.

  • Water is well water
  • Cell service is limited
  • Wi-Fi is available, but minimal
  • There are no televisions

These are part of the experience.

HOW IT WORKS

Basecamp is not booked as a standard stay.

It is configured personally—based on your group, your timing, and how you want to move through the basin.
