Yes, rattlesnakes, but it is extremely rare to see them. They are in hibernation during most of our tour season except for the month of May.
A headlamp and 2-litre water bottle for each guest, swimming suit for hot springs soak, lunch-type snacks (we provide a refrigerator shared by guests). All else is provided.
There is no cellular phone service within a 40-mile radius from Cynthia’s Basecamp, however, there is Wi-Fi at Basecamp.
Yes, each guest room has its own bathroom with standard flush toilets and hot showers. Soap, Shampoo, conditioner, and towels are provided.
Emotional support pets are not allowed at Cynthia’s basecamp or on safari.
Dinner and breakfast are served at basecamp. The menus are designed and prepared by Cynthia, which includes the dietary considerations of guests. Meals are hearty and healthy and served family-style in our dining room. Guests bring their own wine or beer. Guests have lunch at local restaurants or bring their own lunch items. Basecamp has a guest dining room with a shared refrigerator.
Expect to find your guest room much like a standard hotel room…except in the middle of the glorious desert!
Yes. Due to the remoteness, there is no public transportation to the area. You will need your own vehicle for the Death Valley part of your safari.
No. But a high-clearance vehicle may provide more access to sites and locations that may be of interest to you.
It’s best to come to Cynthia’s with a full gas tank, plenty of water, and hearty snacks and lunch items. There is a gas station 12 miles from basecamp with a convenience store. There is a gas station, shops, and restaurants in Death Valley National Park. There is a town 40 miles from basecamp. There are some local restaurants. Cynthia will provide detailed information upon arrival.
