SAFARI PACKAGE

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE 5-DAY SAFARI PACKAGE?

ARE THE SAFARIS SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes

CAN CYNTHIA’S SAFARI GROUPS BE LARGER THAN 11?
WILL I HAVE TIME TO RELAX?

We encourage time to relax.  Your safari is designed to include as much or as little quiet time as you wish.

HOW DIFFICULT ARE THE HIKES?

Easy to extremely difficult.  Hikes are tailored to your fitness level and your interests.

WHAT IF I AM INJURED ON A SAFAREI?

Cynthia knows your route and tracks your progress on the trail.  If you have an incident, help is on the way. The Southern Inyo Fire Protection District protects the Amargosa Canyon with its search and rescue and emergency medical services.  Death Valley National Park has search and rescue and emergency medical services.

ARE THERE DANGEROUS ANIMALS?

 Yes.  Rattlesnakes, but it is extremely rare to see them.  Safety protocols will be discussed upon arrival.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Headlamp, 2-litre water bottle for each guest, swimming suit for hot springs soak, lunch-type snacks (we 

provide a frig shared by guests).  All else is provided.

BASECAMP: LODGING AND MEALS

IS THERE INTERNET ACCESS AND CELLULAR RECEPTION AT BASECAMP?

There is no cellular phone service within a 40-mile radius from Cynthia’s basecamp, however, there is WIFI at basecamp.

ARE THERE PRIVATE BATHROOMS AND HOT SHOWERS AT BASECAMP?

Yes.

ARE PETS ALLOWED ON SAFARI AND AT BASECAMP?

Emotional Support Dogs and other pets are NOT allowed at Cynthia’s or on Safari.

HOW DO I TAKE MY MEALS?

Some at basecamp, some on tour. 

WHAT IS LODGING LIKE AT CYNTHIA’S BASECAMP?

Expect to find your guest room much like a standard hotel room…except in the middle of the glorious desert!

BEDDING AND TOWELS PROVIDED?

Yes.

DRIVING

DO I NEED MY OWN VEHICLE TO GET TO CYNTHIA’S.

Yes. Due to the remoteness, there is no public transportation to the area.   And you will need your own vehicle for the Death Valley part of your safari.

DOES MY VEHICLE NEED TO BE HIGH CLEARANCE OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE?

No, but it may provide more access to sites and locations that may be of interest to you.

ARE THERE GAS STATIONS/SHOPS NEAR CYNTHIA’S BASECAMP?

There are gas stations/convenience stores in Death Valley National Park (70 miles from basecamp) and one 12 miles from basecamp.  Any food shopping should be done prior to your arrival.

I’VE NEVER DRIVEN AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLE BEFORE. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE GUIDED OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE PART OF THE SAFARI?

Lots of fun and access to normally inaccessible locations.  

CAN I BOOK AN OFF-ROAD TOUR BY ITSELF, WITHOUT THE SAFARI PACKAGE?

WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLES ARE PROVIDED IN YOUR OFF-ROAD TOURS?

Polaris RZR’s and Honda Pioneers.
